We are all aware that school budgets are in crisis. This year 32 State legislatures cut funding for their public school systems. Every day we hear educators say the same thing, that the JourneyOnline collection is just the tool they need, but the school simply doesn't have the money.
Educators aren't the only ones who want to inspire students to take that "journey back in time", to touch their citizenship, to experience the struggles, triumphs, doubts and achievements of other generations. Every community has individuals, civic groups, and business leaders who know that a youth traveling on a road that comes from the past is on a road that leads into the future, a future for that student and for our communities.
Building good citizenship in the next generation really isn't a task that ends with paying our property tax and hiring an education industry to do the job for us. It requires examples of good citizenship, examples of community responsibility, examples of how things really get done in our communities.
JourneyOnline offer opportunities for individuals, civic groups, and business leaders to set that example and sponsor a school's annual subscription to the Journey Back In Time collection of historical documents. Each sponsorship is an annual subscription to Journey Back In Time for a particular school.
